City of Ramona

Welcome to the City of Ramona, an unincorporated city in the County.

The City of Ramona is not an independent city but a part of unincorporated San Diego County. Local government control is through the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors, of which Dianne Jacob is representative for our community. Ramona is well known for the Collonade of trees that line Main Street from the edge of Etcheverry to the other end of town, and members of the community are very protective of these century-old Eucalyptus trees; and of course, our Hope Street line of mailboxes which are at the edge of Hope Street and Highway 67.

Local planning issues are brought before the Ramona Community Planning Group (RCPG) and it's sub-committee groups made up of Trails & Transportation; CUDA (Central Urban Development Area); West End (projects at the West End of Ramona); South (projects on the South side of Ramona); GP 2020 (future land use); and Parks. There are 15 elected members of the RCPG, with half the seats up for election every two years (for a total of a four year term). In 2008, there will be 8 seats up for grabs - local politicians, get ready to run! The RCPG meets the first Thursday of every month at the Senior Center at 424 Aqua Lane in Ramona, at 7pm. The Chair is Helene Radzik.
